If you've been waiting for your chance to shine on stage, here’s your moment—audition information for High School Musical is here! Open to all students in Years 9–13, join us as we bring the story of Troy, Gabriella, and the Wildcats to life on stage. Break a leg!

Audition Information

All students in Years 9-13 are eligible to audition. We welcome you to ask your friends from boys' schools around Wellington to get involved too.

Auditions will be held on:

• Friday 24 January 9.00am-5.00pm and Saturday 25 January at 9.00am-12pm.
• Callbacks will be on Saturday 25 January at 1.00pm-4.00pm.

Audition process:

1. Fill out the Pre-Audition Form as soon as possible before the audition.
2. Look over ALL the materials in this packet as there are audition scenes, roles with audition songs, and a link for the audition music.
3. On the music page, you will find the role, the songs required with bar numbers AND the Spotify link to the Karaoke track.
4. Decide which role you would like to audition for and the appropriate scene. If you haven't decided on a role, then prepare “We’re All in this Together” music and the appropriate scene.
5. View the songs and scenes you need to learn for the audition.
6. If you’re auditioning for Troy or Gabriella, please note that there are multiple songs to learn.
7. Spend time to memorise the music and scene, if possible. This isn’t a requirement, but it shows your commitment to the process.
8. Listen to the High School Musical Audition Tracks. You will find in this link the song sung in the musical and then the next track is the same song but in karaoke version. We will be using the karaoke version for the audition.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will be on Sundays 10.00am – 6.00pm, this time will be utilised to accomplish all we need to do to allow High School Musical to be a success.

There will be no weekday rehearsals this time for leads, unless absolutely necessary.

All rehearsals will take place on Sundays, so you must commit to being on time, present, and prepared each week. Note that you will not necessarily be required for the whole rehearsal time each week, but please keep these days free.

A specific rehearsal schedule will be published once casting is complete.

Production Week

• Saturday 29 March - Tech set-up: some cast members may be required
• Sunday 30 March - Technical rehearsal, all day 10.00am-6.00pm
• Monday 31 March - Dress rehearsal (6pm)
• Tuesday 1 April - Dress Rehearsal (6pm)
• Wednesday 2 April - DARK DAY (which means no rehearsal, but please keep it open just in case!)

• Friday 4 April (7 pm)
• Saturday 5 April (2 pm matinee AND 7 pm show)
• Sunday 6 April (12 pm) POST PRODUCTION PACK OUT (compulsory attendance)
