There's a lot to think about before the start of a new school year. Here's some key information all in one place.

Start dates, term dates and calendar 
New students - Information for parents and caregivers
  • See our Induction Booklet for comprehensive information for new students
  • Monday 27 January, day 1 for new students: See Start Dates for Term One for information for each year level, including what students need to bring, where to meet, and about Orientation for Years 7-13 
  • Tuesday 28 January, Pōwhiri: We invite all new students and their whānau to a pōwhiri
    • 8.30am: Gather inside Hobson Gym for a briefing 
    • 8.45am: Welcomed on the Front Lawn as a group
    • 9.30am: Kai in the Atrium
    • In the event of rain, the Powhiri will move to the Hall where unfortunately we do not have room to accommodate whānau at this time - aroha mai, we hope you understand

  • See Start Dates for Term One for information for each year level about what day to start, what to bring, where to meet, and information about Orientation for Years 7-13 
Parent Portal
  • The parent portal is closed for annual maintenance during the Christmas holidays
  • During the maintenace period, we recommend you 'like' the QMC Facebook page to receive updates and notices prior to the start of Term One 
  • From 27 January, each parent and caregiver will be emailed an invitation to create a login in the Parent Portal 
Uniform

Laptops and devices Find out everything you need to know about laptop requirements and our policies about mobile devices and wearables at school
Years 5-13 software download 
  • Look out for an email towards the end of January, which contains Microsoft Office software download information and your student's username and initial password
  • Microsoft Office software must be downloaded on to your student's laptop before their first day of school
  • If you have any problems, email our IT department on it@qmc.school.nz

Auditions for High School Musical - 24- 25 January
  • All students in years 9-13 can audition for our senior school production, High School Musical
  • Audition dates: Friday 24 January 9.00am-5.00pm and Saturday 25 January 9.00am-12pm. Callbacks wil be on Saturday 25 January 1.00pm-4.00pm

  • Get the QMC app on the App Store or Google Play
  • Get everything at your finger tips, including parent portal and resources, timetables and newsletters, calendar and staff directory, direct notifications, absnece reporting, and debtor dashboard
Operoo for school trips - Login and update 
  • Our trip management system is Operoo. It is a secure system and is available online and as an app for your phone 
  • Operoo allows parents and caregivers to sign permission slips, add trips to a calendar and provide relevant medical and dietary information 
  • Download the Operoo Central app from Apple App Store, Google Play or the Operoo web platform
  • After Monday 18 December 2024, you will receive an email with your login details. To help with this, please add admin-au@operoo.com to your safe email address list. 
  • Get ready for the school year: Login and verify or update all contact information, medical information and dietary information
Extra-Curricular registration - closes on Friday 3 February
  • During the week commencing 20 January, parents and caregivers will be emailed an online registration form for all sports, performing arts, visual arts and extra-curricular activities
  • All selections need to be submitted by Friday 3 February 
  • A reminder that Cross Country is compulsory for Years 1-6 and optional for Years 7-8
Cross Curricular Programmes for Years 1-6 and Years 7-8

Information about the Cross Curricular Programme for Years 1-6 and the exciting new programme for Years 7-8 will be emailed in late January 

Upcoming events for parents and caregivers - Save the date
  • Junior School (Years 1-6) parents and caregivers: Save the date for Meet the Teachers, Wednesday 29 January at 6.00pm tp 7.30pm
  • Years 7-12 parents and caregivers: Save the date for Meet the Tutors, Wednesday 5 Febuary at 5.15pm-6.45pm for Years 7-9 and 6.15pm-7.45pm for Years 10-12
  • Year 13 parents and caregivers: Save the date for the Year 13 Parents BBQ on Friday 7 Feburary 2025
  • All new parents and caregivers: Save the date for the QMC Parents' Association New Parents Evening, Tuesday 18 February at 5.30pm-7.30pm
