As an IB World School, Queen Margaret College warmly welcomes applications from students at all levels to become international students. We are proud of our diverse school community comprised of students representing forty different nationalities.
Queen Margaret College is one of New Zealand’s leading private schools for girls and is known for its outstanding examination results. Across any measure, we are one of the top academic achieving schools in New Zealand. We are authorised to teach all three IB programmes, PYP, MYP and the IB Diploma, recognised by universities worldwide as outstanding preparation for tertiary education.
The lastest ERO (Education Review Office) review says that the “the school’s systems and processes for the education and care of international students are comprehensive. International students are well integrated into the school. The effectiveness of programmes of learning is evident through the quality of academic success these students achieve”.
Our school offers small class sizes, outstanding facilities and teachers who are committed to helping the girls achieve academic success.
Our students are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school as there are many opportunities available such as sport, music and performing arts. Wireless internet is available throughout the school making it easy to keep in touch with family and friends at home.
Year 7–13 domestic and international students can board at Queen Margaret House. Cared for in this new, purpose-built boarding house, the girls will learn how to live together in a community, developing self-confidence, independence, adaptability and responsibility. Boarding provides rich opportunities to make friends, to speak English and to experience New Zealand’s great outdoors.
Living overseas gives our students a much wider world view and often helps them decide what they really want out of life. The international team here is proud to be part of their experience in New Zealand and work hard to make it the best it can be. A few kind words
“My mother came to New Zealand with me, so that I didn’t have to stay with a home stay family. She can only speak little bit English, so living in a different country and using a different language is very difficult for her. But luckily, people in New Zealand were very friendly, and they often helped us when we needed it. The teachers in QMC also helped my mum, and she feels so happy to be here. She said: “Choosing to come to this amazing school is the best decision that we made.” – Yik Tong, Current Year 12 International Student.
“We feel honoured to let people know that QMC has a wonderful college spirit, a multicultural environment and a warm, caring atmosphere for international students.” – Stephanie and Bonnie Zheng, Former QMC International Students.
