Parents' Association

The QMC Parents' Association provides opportunities by running events, enabling parents and caregivers to engage in an active role as part of the school community. The aim of the association is that QMC whānau are part of an authentic and connected community that support each other. The Parents' Association funds projects that benefit current students, hosts events to celebrate and promote cultural diversity, and rewards leadership and special character by sponsoring several Awards and Leadership Training for seniors.

The Parent’s Association brings the QMC community together with social events throughout the calendar year, connecting parents with others in their daughter’s year group.

  • Sapasui preperation for Samoan Language Week
  • Pre-loved Uniform Sale
  • Matariki Hāngī
  • Quiz Night

POSITION VACANCY: Parent Association Board Member

The Queen Margaret College Board encourages questioning, collaboration, and participation among the wider school community and aims to cultivate an inclusive environment. The Queen Margaret College Board of Governors currently has one vacancy on the Board for a Parent Association representative and invites QMC parents to apply. In this position, you will take a lead role in enhancing good relations, communication, and cooperation between parents and the College, and the wider school community.

To ensure that all board responsibilities are met, we actively seek to balance the specific skills and strengths of each incoming board member with the mix of skills we already have. Alongside this, we strive for board diversity. To fill our current vacancy, you are likely to have a strong working knowledge and skill set from one of the following industry sectors:

  • Financial management
  • Law – contract, disputes, and/or compliance
  • IT, including knowledge of AI

If you are interested in this position, the successful candidate would be required to join the Parents Association, if not currently a member. In addition, we also seek a board member who demonstrates:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • A passion and commitment to the vision and values of Queen Margaret College
  • A high level of confidentiality, credibility, and integrityA preparedness to engage in relevant, constructive debate
  • Active participation in extra-curricular College events
  • Governance experience is preferable but not mandatory
