Tappahannock, Virginia

St Margaret's School (SMS) Tappahannock, Virginia is part of the Margaret School Network throughout the globe. This exchange is offered to one Year 12 student from Queen Margaret College. The duration of this exchange is roughly one month, usually taking place over the New Zealand Christmas holiday period (December/January). During this time, the student will experience boarding school life; living on campus as well as learning in the classroom. The student is hosted by a family over the two week ‘winter' break, where they experience an American family lifestyle.

Student comment:

"The USA exchange was definitely an experience of a lifetime. I met so many people and learnt so much about the American lifestyle. My favourite part of the exchange was attending St Margaret's School (SMS) and experiencing the boarding school life. It was a completely new environment where I worked and lived on campus. I found it so interesting how staff members lived on campus too, or some just across the road. It was heart-warming to see how tight knit the SMS community was; a real school family. The dining hall was my favourite part of the school as it was buffet styled and had an unlimited supply of food and sodas. A highlight of my trip was travelling to New York during my winter holiday break. I was lucky enough to see Times Square, Broadway, downtown Manhattan, Little Italy, Chinatown and Staten Island. However, my overall favourite part of the trip was experiencing a white Christmas, especially when it snowed on Christmas day. I cannot wait to go back and see all of my friends again. I highly recommend this exchange to the girls in Year 12 - you will not regret it!"
