In return, the two QMC students selected for this exchange will each host a sister from SMS upon return here in New Zealand.
"This was my first time overseas and also my first time on the plane by myself, so you can imagine how excited I was. I was very lucky to go at the time that I went as I was able to explore not only Berwick and Melbourne, but also Canberra. During the holidays, my host sister Maddy took me to a high ropes course, mountain biking and on a tour around Berwick and Melbourne. We went 4WD around the bush, kangaroo hunting, had a bonfire and even made a flying fox! This was my favourite part of the trip as I met with her family and had a good time relaxing and exploring. In my third week of the exchange I was lucky enough to go to Canberra with Maddy on their school camp. I learnt a lot about the Australian government and how Canberra was built to be the political capital. Throughout my stay I joined in with Maddy in her Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) training. An HPV is like a go cart but with pedals and you do 6 hour events in teams of 4-6. After doing their trainings I was actually asked to compete with Maddy in a 6 hour event. The experience was an unbelievable time and I can't wait to go back to Australia to catch up with all the friends I made there."
