PA Gifts $50,000 to Hobson

An update on the Hobson Complex. Over the past two weeks progress has been rapid with the gymnasium floor laid and court markings complete. Carpet has been laid in all of the classrooms, the exterior court leveled and landscaping begun. We are counting down to the completion date expected to be mid-March with the formal opening set for Friday 10 May. On the back page of the latest QMCalling, posted to you last week, is a notice for Top House, a celebratory event involving parents, students and Old Girls. Top House will be held in the
new building on the Saturday following the opening ceremony. House spirit was conspicuous at Athletics Day held this week with girls dressing in House colours and competing fiercely for points. Top House will also foster this competitive spirit and allow us all to ‘test drive’ the new facilities by partaking in a range of enjoyable activities. Please mark this date, Saturday 11 May 2-4pm, in your diary. You can earn points for your daughter’s house and also have a lot of fun!

Another date to note is Sunday 17 March when the senior girls compete in the annual Wellington Secondary School Dragon Boating Festival on the harbour. The College enters two boats, a Year 13 girls’ crew and, working with our brother school, a QUOTs Year 12 co-ed one. Played out on Wellington Harbour, this is a spectacular event. You might like to attend this and support the paddlers.

Term One has been very busy with many activities undertaken, all of which are additional to teaching and learning. This makes for a very full calendar. For your information, the school will not be officially supporting Relay for Life this year. An enthusiastic group of Year 13 girls, supported by their parents, will be taking part, raising funds for this worthy cause. We wish them well.

Kind Regards

Carol Craymer
