Today, Middle School students attended their special service held, as has been the case since the 1920's, in our parish church, St Andrew's on the Terrace. The theme explored through reflection, bible readings and music was Justice and Joy. I thank the girls nvolved who contributed to this thoughtful service, and wish the Minister of St Andrew's, the Reverend Dr Margaret Mayman, all the best as she moves to her new position as minister leading an inner city church In Sydney.
Mock exams began this week. I hope that all of those senior students who attended Stuart Wright's Study Skills presentation entitled ‘Encouraging Independent Learners’ have been using some of his suggested approaches. Along with our lovely spring weather, the 'mock examinations' are a signal that the end of the year is near and that for senior girls, their focus must now be their studies. The advantage of having these examinations in Term 3 is that they identify the knowledge or skill 'gaps' that require work and
yet there is still sufficient time in class, in workshops and study during the break to remediate this.
Finally, congratulations to the Year 11 team pictured above for being placed second and top girls' team in the Wellington-wide Mathswell competition.
