House Music

A busy Term 2, dramatically beginning with the opening of the Hobson Complex, had as a finale, House Performing Arts Day. Over the past few weeks the House Prefects have led girls from Year 1-13 in practices of their chosen song. Also melodramas have been written by Year 10 and dances choreographed by Year 8. The lively competition today was hard fought with girls vying for the House Entertainment Trophy.  Berwick House won the best song, Glamis the melodrama,  Braemar the chant, Berwick small group and dance, with Stirling overall winners. Congratulations to all involved for a vibrant, entertaining day of performance.

This was a positive note on which to finish an amazing term, a highlight of which for me was the presentation of a staff gift of an artwork for the Hobson Complex. This print by Year 13 student, Mikayla Heesterman, is being framed and next term, I will work with the Head of Art, Paulette Pavelich, to find a suitable place to hang this picture in the new building. I thank the staff for their generosity.

The mid-year holiday is the ideal time for students (and teachers!) to recharge their batteries. I wish all of the girls a safe, relaxing holiday. However, with Term 3 being only 8 weeks long, it is sensible for senior students to spend some time studying as well during this extended break.

Kind Regards
