Although we are nearly at the end of the school year, the girls have been engaged purposefully right to the final week.
On Monday I visited the Year 10 girls at camp in Catchpool Valley, Wainuiomata. There they practised their outdoor skills such as pitching a tent, cooking over an open fire and walking with a pack in preparation for the Year 11 Abel Tasman Camp to be held at the start of 2013. Back at school, that night there was a highly entertaining Junior School pantomime and today, Year 9 girls participated in Elizabethan Day, including partaking of a banquet.
There are some recent outstanding achievements that I wish to highlight. In the Te Papa Schools' Hobbit Art Competition Dahee Lim was awarded first prize, Brittany Hogan was runner-up and Isabel Sheat was awarded an Honourable Mention. In addition Catherine Sangster (Year 12) has won a place in the prestigious Chemistry Olympiad Programme and will attend this in 2013. Congratulations to all those girls.
On Friday the girls will be issued with their copy of Te Karere to read over the break and in the following week your daughter's report will be posted to you.
Merry Christmas and have a safe, relaxing holiday.
