There was a number of highlights this week starting with the Christmas pantomime, Cinderella, at Circa Theatre. The 'house' was packed with Junior School girls, staff, parents and grandparents. They entered into the spirit of the occasion with the girls dressing up as fairies and pixies and the audience participating vociferously in the action. This was a fundraiser for the Queen Margaret College Foundation Trust as was the Trade me online auction which raised $23,000. What a great outcome! Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to this and congratulations to the QMC Auction Committee, especially parents, Charlotte Fisher and Jane Woodrow who initiated this successful project.
For many years now, all Year 9 form classes have produced an abridged half hour musical. For this challenging assignment, staff act largely as advisors with students writing the script, casting the roles and over the course of a term, directing the show. My congratulations to the Year 9 girls for four thoroughly entertaining performances of The Lion King (9CW), Grease (9DW) , Annie (9MD) and Aladdin (9PC). It was wonderful to see such a great turnout of parents, family and friends for these musicals.
Finally, congratulations to Welly Winners announced on Thursday night: Year 13 Glamis House Prefect, Brittany Trilford, named Young Wellingtonian of the Year and Old Girls, Deirdre Tarrant, the winner in the Arts category, and Julie Moore, the Business category.
