Welcome to Queen Margaret College

Queen Margaret College is the largest private girls' school in Wellington and one of New Zealand’s most successful and innovative schools providing education from Pre-School to Year 13. We are an IB World School and offer a dual qualification pathway of either the IB Diploma or NCEA.

Established on our present site in Hobson Street in 1919 as a Presbyterian girls' school, we have strong traditions and values that endure at the College.

Our goal is to nurture independent and thoughtful young women, with strong values, who are confident of their ability to lead and make a difference. We provide rigorous and engaging academic and co-curricular programmes to meet the needs of students at each stage of their educational journey.

We celebrate the cultural diversity of our students, a feature of the school from early in its history, located as we are in the middle of a cosmopolitan capital city, close to embassies, high commissions and parliament.

2013 will be a milestone year at the College with the new Hobson Building, comprised of a full-sized gym, five state-of-the-art classrooms, fitness centre, all-weather outdoor court and a Year 13 common room, to be opened in April.
